Home > How It Works

The lifting is created by three gas springs in perfect balance - two within the side walls of the hutch and one connecting the top and legs. Lock mechanisms provide stability at both the sitting and standing positions.  These high precision nitrogen gas springs have been manufacturer tested in excess of 30,000 cycles.

The front work surface is raised with a hand lever beneath the right front edge which withdraws spring latches that allow the gas springs to lift the top. To stop at any of 14 levels, the lever is simply released. To lower the top, the lever is pulled and only slight pressure on the top is required.

The hutch with built in monitor shelf is supported on seven rectangular rubber feet which prevent it from sliding. And the sturdy, integrated front work surface allows the user to rest forearms and/or elbows heavily when typing or reading. The center cut out provides a slight wrap around effect.

The desktop and hutch form a full sized working area which holds normal desk items such as a phone, stapler, tape dispenser, calculator, coffee cup, files, and even small lamps and fans at both the sitting and standing positions. The separate rear shelf can accommodate large, heavy monitors as well as dual monitors or a monitor and a CPU.

ONE SIZE FITS ALL.  The Desktop Elevator lets the user raise the working surface at one inch increments and lock it in to any of 14 height settings. When sitting atop a standard 30" high desk for example, the standing range (not counting the sitting position) is from 35" to 47", which provides a custom standing height for 99% of the population. To attain the proper stand-working height, the front surface should be raised to a level that just touches the underside of your forearms when they are held parallel to the ground while your elbows are held close in touching your sides. Some users prefer a notch above or a notch below this level, and those personal comfort issues can easily be accommodated with the Desktop Elevator.
